Shri. T V Sundram Iyengar, 1877 - 1955

T V Sundram Iyengar & Sons Limited (TVS & Sons), the parent company of the TVS group, headquartered at Madurai owns the Tools & Garage Division. TVS & Sons started its initial operations with passenger transport service way back in 1911. Even in those times it was first to introduce ticketing system and transparent rate structure.

Understanding that no service can be well provided unless the buses are kept in proper condition the company stressed on proper maintenance of the buses and equipment used. Within a short time the service earned the good will and reputation of being an ethically managed reliable service in South. The service made a mark with the customers for its punctuality, fair treatment and proper maintenance. Thereafter the company grew into various auto related activities such as cargo movement, parts distribution, car, jeep, and heavy vehicle dealership, etc. The steady growth of the group got a set back with the nationalization of passenger road transport service in Tamilnadu. However the group resiled from the set back and branched into various manufacturing related activities and had grown to its present size of over US$ 3.2 Billion annual turnover. The company always maintained its pioneering spirit through out and had taken keen interest in the societies around.

  • Customer Centric Business – Integrated car servicing under TVS brand through four verticals – Post warranty; on road emergency breakdown service; insurance based accident and body repair; buy, sell and exchange of pre-owned cars.

  • Others – T&GE is one of them, others being Own & Operate (material handling equipment service to organized automobile Tier I companies by owning the equipment and deploying the manpower to run the equipment), Hispacold dealerships etc.
